FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Everyman Rep Presents Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
Rockport, Maine, August 28, 2014: The Everyman Repertory Theatre presents its latest main stage production, a Maine premiere – the hilarious comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike – at the Camden Opera House. The show opens on 6th September and runs for the next three weekends.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, written by Christopher Durang, won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play, as well as a host of other prizes. Vanya and Sonia have never left the confines of their childhood home in Bucks County, PA, while their sister Masha has been gallivanting around the world as a successful actress. A surprise visit from Masha and her 20-something boy toy, Spike, throws the normally quiet household into utter upheaval as its residents and visitors get swept up in an intoxicating mixture of lust, rivalry, regret, and the sudden possibility of escape.
It features Jennifer Hodgson, David Troup, Elizabeth Logun, Ryan Thompson, Dagney Ernest and Marie Stickney. The set was designed by John Bielenberg, the lights were designed by Tom Sadowski and the costumes designed by Jessica Manbeck. Abby Norman is stage manager and the play is directed by Paul Hodgson. Keith Mackenzie is the producer.
The show plays on 6, 7, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21 September, with a talkback Q&A session with the cast and crew on the second Sunday in the run, the 14th. Evening performances are at 7pm, with Sunday matinees at 2pm. Tickets are available at www.everymanrep.org or by calling 207.236.0173. As well as at local retail venues: Owl and Turtle and HAVII in Camden, the Reading Corner, Rockland, and Bella Books, Belfast. Tickets are $25, or $20 if purchased in advance. Student tickets are available at $10. Students studying drama at all area local high schools are eligible for a free ticket under the Everyman Rep’s Plays for Pupils program, which introduces students to professional theatre. Drama teachers should collect the names of students wishing to attend – and dates – and call those in to the box office.
