Everyman Repertory Theatre continues their Forgotten Classics of the Stage series with The Second Mrs. Tanqueray on Sunday, May 12th, at 2pm, Pascal Hall, 86 Pascal Ave. in Rockport, ME.

The Second Mrs. Tanqueray is one of a genre of dramas known in the 19th century as a ‘problem play.’ It was written by Arthur Wing Pinero, who up till then had made his name as a writer of farces. It takes the well-known "woman with a past" plot, a plot that was very popular in 19th century melodrama, and treats it with a maturity, sympathy and introspection that was rare at the time. The play was first produced in 1893, and despite causing some shock to his audiences by its scandalous subject it was a box-office success.

Cast includes Scott Anthony Smith, Joseph Cote, James Reitz, Ryan Jackson, River Lombardi, Christine West, Jennifer Hodgson, and Paul Hodgson, with April Rejman and Michael Amico making their ERT debut.
